In Spain, a new type of privacy debate is brewing: The Right To Be Forgotten. With the Internet as a growing repository for every embarrassment and snarky comment, some now believe that people should have the right to wipe their digital slates clean. The Associated Press reports.

Journalism That Matters

While much of journalism is about celebrity scandals and other meaningless things, there are still many examples of journalism that makes a real difference. One example is the Los Angeles Times coverage of pay and corruption scandals in Bell. These stories have led to the recall of nearly the entire city council and placing the former city manager on trial. And for Bell, maybe the city's tax money will begin to be spent on things that benefit the local citizens. NPR reports.

Are Animators Creeping Us Out?

When animated humans start looking too lifelike, they begin to make viewers feel uneasy. They seem like very convincing robots, given away only by strangely dead eyes or slightly off skin texture. That is the gist of the "uncanny valley" theory. It postulates that animation works best when it convincingly gives toasters and toys and turtles--but not people--human qualities.

This Associated Press article indicates that the current animated movie "Mars Needs Moms" may have unwittingly found itself in the uncanny valley.

Online and Isolated ...Not Good for Teens

So you're not the most popular kid in middle school. At least you can go home, go online and talk with your virtual friends on Facebook. But what if you lack Facebook friends, too. For some adolescents and older teens, that may trigger depression. These findings are from the American Academy of Pediatric journal.
