Can Secrets Be Good?
Wikileaks is all over the news. Hundreds of thousands of diplomatic communications have been put online for all the world to see without the consent of any government. So far, this information has led to understanding and embarrassment for the US State Department. We are conditioned to believe that secrecy in government is bad, but is it always?
This incident is a prime example of the Democratization of News, where anyone can participate and traditional news organizations become increasingly obsolete. NPR reports on the problems Wikileaks is having with simply staying online.
